Volunteer Roles
Picking up and delivering food
This essential role ensures that food is transported from our suppliers to our DPS market locations including Ellis and McMeen Elementary Schools. Pickup locations include Food Bank of the Rockies (I70 and 45th St.), The Fresh Guys (58th Ave. north of I70), We Don’t Waste (I70 near 35th St.) and Royal Crest Dairy (S. Pearl St., Wash Park). Drivers pick up orders on behalf of The LoVVe Project during specific appointment windows and get food to our schools on time for our markets. Reliability and punctuality is critical for this role. In this role you do not work directly with LoVVe Project families, but you are essential in making our markets possible by literally putting food on the table.
You’ll be a good fit for this role if:
-
You are punctual and reliable
-
You own a large SUV or truck
-
You are comfortable handling boxes of food that may weigh up to 40lbs
-
You are a safe driver, and keep your license and insurance current
Staffing Markets
This essential role ensures that we create welcoming, accessible free-choice markets for all LoVVe Project families at our 3 market locations: Ellis Elementary School, McMeen Elementary School, and Celebration Community Church. In this role you will engage directly with LoVVe Project families who are shopping for food.
Market staff are instrumental in setting up tables, helping to unload food from vehicles, thoughtfully arranging foods and supplies, warmly greeting and assisting families, putting away tables, breaking down boxes and disposing of trash and recycling. Volunteers in this role should demonstrate a warm, loving attitude toward our neighbors in need. We expect empathy and kindness toward LoVVe Project families at all times.
You’ll be a good fit for this role if:
-
You are a naturally warm, kind, and non-judgemental person
-
You like to work in a team environment with other volunteers
-
You are comfortable with light to medium physical activity, which includes setting up tables and carrying boxes of food
