Volunteer Policies

No-shows and late cancellations
When signing up for a volunteer shift, please keep in mind that we are depending on you. We have a tiny, mighty team, and “no shows” at events create extra work for other volunteers. Please ensure you understand the following:

  • Signing up to volunteer with The LoVVe Project fills a limited spot which may prevent another volunteer from being able to sign up. If you’re not sure you can make the shift, please do not sign up until you’re sure. We try hard not to under or over-staff our events, but this only works if volunteers attend their chosen shifts

  • Please cancel a shift as soon as possible if you can no longer attend

  • If a volunteer no-shows, and doesn’t communicate the reason for the no-show, for more than two shifts, the account will be deactivated and they will no longer be able to volunteer with The LoVVe Project

  • If a volunteer cancels late (less than 48 hours before a shift) multiple times, The LoVVe Project  may choose to deactivate the volunteer’s account. Please communicate with us about your schedule as much as possible.

Strict no photography/no video policy

We serve some of the most vulnerable people in our community, and therefore have a strict no photography/no video policy at our events. This is to protect the privacy of the families that we serve. The only individuals with permission to photograph events are the Executive Director, Board Members, or Social Media manager.

Youth Volunteers

  • Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult

    • Parent/guardian discretion is required as our Saturday markets are hosted in a busy parking lot with moving vehicles

  • Parents/guardians must sign online waiver if youth is under 18

  • We also encourage kids to get involved by hosting hygiene product drives, creating peer-to-peer fundraising pages, and inviting The LoVVe Project to their school to spread the word about the importance of fresh food access for all

Volunteering as a Client of The LoVVe Project

  • We encourage recipients of our food support program to volunteer.

  • If a volunteer would like to receive food support, they must enroll as a client of The LoVVe Project

  • Volunteers enrolled in The LoVVe Project may receive the same amount of food as all other clients. No volunteer is allowed to take additional food or supplies without the explicit permission of the Executive Director or Lead Volunteer.

Anti-Discrimination, Dignity of Clients, and Respect are Paramount

We do not judge our clients, volunteers, or staff on the basis of financial status, race, color, national origin, ancestry, creed, religion, sex, age, disability, veteran status, citizenship/immigration status, marital status, gender expression, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by state or federal law. The safety and security of The LoVVe Project’s employees, volunteers, and constituents is critical. We expect all people in attendance at LoVVe Project events to treat all individuals with respect and kindness.

Policy Against Sexual Harassment

The LoVVe Project is committed to providing a safe environment for all its volunteers and program members free from discrimination on any grounds and from harassment including sexual harassment.

The LoVVe Project has a zero tolerance policy for any form of sexual harassment. All complaints of sexual harassment will be taken seriously and treated with respect and in confidence. Any person found to have sexually harassed another will face disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal from The LoVVe Project.
